Tracking

KiloNord isn’t recording my drives

Tap the status at the top of Drives, or open Settings › Tracking Health. It lists anything that would cause missed drives, with a Fix button that opens the right iPhone setting. KiloNord needs:

  • Location: Always. Drives start when the app is closed, so iOS needs “Always” to wake KiloNord up. “While Using” isn’t enough.
  • Precise Location: on. Without it, distances will be wrong.
  • Motion & Fitness: on. It helps KiloNord tell driving from walking. Motion data stays on your phone.
  • Background App Refresh: on.
  • Location Services: on for the whole iPhone.

Also check that tracking isn’t paused. When Tracking Health says “Tracking is working”, test it: drive somewhere and the drive will show up in Drives.

A drive is missing

If KiloNord thinks it missed a drive, it shows a Possible missed trip card in Drives that you can confirm or dismiss.

Very short trips are set aside, not deleted. You can restore them for 7 days in Settings › Tracking › Ignored trips. The same screen sets the minimum trip distance and how long a stop ends a trip.

You can always add a trip by hand with the + button in Drives.

One drive was split in two, or two drives should be separate

A stop longer than the setting in Settings › Tracking ends a trip. Open a trip and use the ••• menu to merge it with the trip before or after it (within 2 hours), or to split it at a stop of at least 1 minute.

How do I pause tracking?

Open Tracking Health (tap the status at the top of Drives) and choose Pause tracking: for 1 hour, until tomorrow, or until you resume.

Will it drain my battery?

KiloNord uses GPS only while you drive. When you’re not driving, it uses about as much battery as a weather app. Motion & Fitness helps it avoid false trips and save battery.

Does it work without a signal?

Yes. Drives are recorded on your phone even with no signal, and back up to your account when you’re online again.

Account and data

What do I need to use KiloNord?

An iPhone with iOS 26 or later, and an Apple Account to sign in with Apple. An account is needed so your trips are backed up and can come back on a new phone. You can choose to hide your email from us when you sign in.

How do I move to a new iPhone?
  1. On your old iPhone, open KiloNord while connected to the internet. Settings › Account & sync shows what’s waiting to upload, and Sync now sends it.
  2. On your new iPhone, install KiloNord and sign in with the same Apple Account.
  3. Your backup comes back, and setup skips the steps you’ve already done. You’ll still be asked to allow location, Motion & Fitness and notifications on the new phone.

If you have Pro and it doesn’t show, go to Settings › Subscription and tap Restore Purchases.

What happens when I sign out?

Signing out removes your account’s data from this phone. It comes back when you sign in again. If something hasn’t been backed up yet, KiloNord tells you first, so you can try again, export a copy, or cancel.

How do I export my data?

Go to Settings › Data export and choose Export all trips (CSV) or Export all data (JSON). Both are always free and work offline: your data is never held hostage.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings › Account & sync › Delete account. This deletes your KiloNord account, all synced trips, vehicles and places, your backups, your receipt photos, and everything on this phone. It can’t be undone, so export first if you want a copy.

Deleting your account doesn’t cancel your subscription. Apple bills you until you cancel (see below).

If you’ve already removed the app, install it again, sign in with the same Apple Account, and delete your account from there. Deleting the app alone doesn’t delete your account. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and for how long.

Subscription

What does Pro cost, and what’s free?

KiloNord Pro is $12.99 a month or $129.99 a year (CAD). The yearly plan comes with a 2-week free trial.

Free forever: unlimited automatic tracking, backup and restore, 1 vehicle, up to 3 rules, a CSV report for the current month, and a full export of your data.

Pro adds: PDF and Excel reports for any period, the year-end package, unlimited vehicles and rules, expenses with receipt photos, and simplified logbook mode.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. In KiloNord, go to Settings › Subscription › Manage subscription. Or, on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app or your KiloNord account doesn’t cancel a subscription.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles payments and refunds, so we can’t issue them ourselves. Request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

I paid for Pro but the app says Free

Make sure you’re signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you paid with, then go to Settings › Subscription and tap Restore Purchases. If that doesn’t help, email us.

What happens to my trips if Pro ends?

Nothing is deleted, and automatic tracking keeps working. Pro features stop, but you can still export a CSV of any period you like, and all your data from Settings › Data export.

Taxes and exports

How do I export my trips for my taxes?

In Summary, tap Export year-end CRA package. Choose the year and one vehicle or all of them, then PDF, CSV or Excel. The reports use a CRA-compliant logbook format: date, start and end, purpose, notes and distance for each trip.

For another period, use Custom report in Summary. The current month as CSV is free; other periods, PDF and Excel need Pro.

I’m paid per km. What does KiloNord show me?

Summary estimates your per-km allowance for the year at CRA rates for your province or territory. If your employer pays a different rate, add it in Settings › Custom rates, for a vehicle or a trip purpose.

I’m self-employed. What does KiloNord show me?

Summary shows your business use: business km ÷ total km, for each vehicle. Add your odometer readings for January 1 and December 31 to make it exact. You apply each vehicle’s business use to its actual costs on Form T2125, Chart A.

Is KiloNord tax advice?

No. KiloNord provides record-keeping tools, not tax advice. Amounts and percentages in the app are estimates. For advice about your own situation, talk to a tax professional or the CRA.
